On September 22nd at 10am, the streets of Roses will be filled with runners in one of the most charitable events in the province of Girona: the 17th edition of the Cursa de la Dona. This event, which has become a benchmark in the region, donates all the registration fees to the Fundació Roses Contra el Càncer, an entity that provides support to cancer patients and their families.
Registration and Participation
Registration costs 10 euros if done in advance and 12 euros if done on the day of the race. You can easily register online through the Fundació Roses Contra el Càncer website or in person at the foundation’s headquarters, located at 44 Espronceda Street, next to the bus station.
All registered participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, which they can pick up along with their race number the day before the race, on 21 September, at the Teatre Municipal de Roses, from 4 to 8 pm. They can also pick it up on the day of the race, one hour before the start.
The Route: 5 km of Solidarity
The route for this edition, as in previous editions, will be 5 km completely flat, running through the urban area of Roses. The start will take place at 10 am from the sea gate of the Ciutadella, and after a warm-up in the Les Botxes square, the participants will head towards the finish line located within the same walled enclosure, where there will also be a refreshment service.
It should be noted that although the race is open to women and men, only women will be officially classified. Men, although they may participate, must start behind the women and will not be taken into account in the final classification. Minors under 18 years of age may participate with an authorization signed by their parents or guardians.
More than a Race, an Act of Solidarity
The Cursa de la Dona de Roses is not just a sporting competition; it is an opportunity to come together as a community and support those who are battling cancer. Taking part in this race is a way of contributing to a worthy cause, whilst enjoying a day of sport and camaraderie in the beautiful surroundings of Roses.
Don’t miss out! Join the 17th Cursa de la Dona and run for a good cause. Every step counts in the fight against cancer.
